pop art, week 1 (spc)

spc - pop art 1

Ok, so here is my first stab at the pop art challenge. Gotta love photoshop manipulation.  My aim was to use everyday thing, my eyes, take a photo that captured their voice or story and then create an image that displayed them unexpectedly. Not sure if I succeeded but it was fun trying. I'm looking forward to being creative with this month's challenge.

SPC - Introduce Yourself, Week 5

just me

This is the last week of introductions and I wanted to be sure and get one more post in so that you could learn a little more about me.  I took acumamakiki's lead with the details.  I will be posting some public thank yous this weekend so be sure and come back.

Booze – Yes and it’s all good. Drinks of choice…red wine and vodka tonics. Although the Mojitos I had last night were yummy.

Chore I hate – cleaning the toilet, because I share it with a man. Thankfully, I don’t do it.

Dog/cat – cats!  They are fabulous.

Essential electronics – computer, ipod and I guess my cell phone.

Favorite perfume – generally don’t wear it, but when I do…Classic from Banana Republic.

Gold/silver – silver or white gold

Hometown – Washington, DC (and grew up in Maine).

Insomnia – Not often, but when it happens, reading usually knocks me back out.

me and oliver

me and oliver

It's time for another Self Portrait Challenge and the topic is still introducing ourselves.  So here is a bit more about me...I'm a vegetarian, an animal rights advocate and I love my cats, especially Oliver.

I took this photo Wednesday night after I learned that Oliver's heart murmur had progressed. He's had a heart murmur all his life and when he was a kitten, the vet figured he'd live between 3 - 5 years. Well he's now 5 and a half and I was hopeful that we'd leave his annual ecocardiogram with another, "he's looking fine, we'll see you both in a year", but that wasn't the case. He needs to take more medication and we'll be seeing the vet in 6 months. So, for now it's one day at time and hopefully he'll stay as is for another couple years.

Self Portrait Challenge

The new self portrait challenge for May has begun. The topic - Introduce Yourself. So here I am...

This picture says a lot about me and what I love. Being outside, knitting, tea, cooler weather, sitting in the sun, fleece and quiet get-aways. This photo was taken at an Inn on the side of a mountain. It was one of the best weekends away that I've escaped to.  I enjoyed lots of reading, knitting, good food, cards, movies in bed, and good conversation with my partner Grant.
